In
keeping with our mission, the Palisades Learning Center
is committed to preparing our students for life's responsibilites.
At our new Career Education Center, our "Career Education
Program" provides students with the knowledge, skills,
and confidence needed to make an effective transition from
school to career oriented work or to further education and
training. By forming local partnerships with post secondary
schools, small businesses, government and community-based
organizations, students will be able to participate in high-quality
work based experiences.
The "Career Education Program" is comprised
of three major components:
- School Based Learning
- Work Based Learning
- Connecting Activities
Through these three components students receive a career
direction and an awareness of the opportunities and options
available to them.
The goals of the "Career Education Program"
are:
- To promote an understanding of the connection of education
and work throughout life.
- To permit exploration of various career paths
- To increase the likelihood of post-secondary.
- To provide opportunities for job mentoring internship
and job shadowing.
Palisades Learning Center recognizes the diversity
of its students and the need to tailor the "Career
Education Program" to meet their particular requirements
for success. We feel that all of our students, at some level,
will benefit from the program. It is our hope that through
this program students will make a smooth and confident transition
from school to career and life.
